Well, Christmas has come and gone. We had a nice, relaxing day at home and really enjoyed it but missed seeing all of our family. So, since we couldn't be with you all, here is a rundown of our days leading up to Christmas. As most of you know from Facebook, Ashlyn is now a big girl in a big bed (actually a big girl who will turn 3 in 3 days!!). Anyway, we were determined to let her stay in her crib until she started climbing out. That day came last week so Zane immediately set up the toddler bed we had for her. She was so proud of it and to this day, she has never once come out of her room when she should be sleeping. Even when she wakes up she stays in her bed until I come get her. I love this!! So, we sold her crib and we now have two big kids!
We have also done our fair share of Christmas baking:
A few days before Christmas we spent the evening looking at Christmas lights. Of course, the kids think even one strand of lights on a house is amazing! It was fun to hear them excited over every single house we saw. Before we even left our house we told Ashlyn to get her jacket on because it was going to be really cold and this is what she came out wearing:
After driving for a little while I turned around and saw that Bryson decided he needed to try on his sister's hat:
But I loved turning around and noticing that even though they were looking out different windows, they were still holding hands. So sweet!
Friday night we went to our church's Christmas Eve service and then I made our cinnamon rolls for Saturday morning while Zane put the kids to bed:
And they sure were a good start to Christmas morning:
After breakfast, we went straight to emptying our stockings:
And then unwrapping. Ashlyn was so funny because she was really more concerned with all the paper that was being thrown on the floor. She picked up every little scrap as it fell:
Every once in a while we had to pause to play with some new toys.
We spent the rest of the day playing with all our new games/toys and eating brisket with lots of side dishes. We knew it was supposed to snow Christmas day, but as it got closer and closer to the kids' bedtime, they were losing hope. Luckily, about 15 minutes before we were going to put them to bed, I looked out and it was snowing! We ran outside with the kids and let them catch a few snowflakes on their tongues before bed. What a perfect way to end the day!
We woke up the next morning and were completely shocked at all the snow we got overnight!
Of course we had to go outside to play in it!
After naptime Ashlyn went out to play while Zane shoveled the driveway. Bryson thought it was too cold so he stayed inside with me.
She enjoyed having a place to ride her bike:
And after shoveling, Zane even found my newspaper!
We loved all the snow (even though it knocked out our internet and cable for a day and a half). In fact, we're on our way to go play in it again and hopefully build a snowman!!
